Shipping a Durga idol internationally involves more than just booking a courier – packaging, customs paperwork and realistic timelines all determine whether your idol arrives in one piece and in time for Puja. FiberglassDurga.com ships to NRI families and puja associations across the USA, UK, Canada and Australia every year, and this page consolidates everything we’ve learned into one reference so you know exactly what to expect before you order a Durga idol for foreigners. We’ve pulled this together from years of answering the same shipping questions across dozens of blog posts, so you can find the full picture in one place rather than piecing it together from separate articles.
Shipping a Durga Idol Abroad: The Complete Guide
Countries We Ship To
We ship fiberglass and fiber Durga idols to the USA, Canada, all European countries (including the UK), Australia, South East Asia and Africa, wherever Bengali and Indian communities celebrate Durga Puja. We also deliver across India. Once we know the idol’s size and your delivery city and country, we can share a shipping quote. If you are not sure whether we deliver to your town, just ask on WhatsApp at +91-7278604751.
How We Pack for International Freight
Every idol travelling abroad is packed in a custom foam-lined wooden crate, with the arms, weapons and crown removed and packed separately so nothing shifts or snaps during a multi-week sea or air freight journey. Larger statues are packed disassembled at the joints our workshop has already tested for reassembly, and every crate is padded specifically for the idol’s exact dimensions rather than using generic packaging, since a loose fit is the single biggest cause of transit damage. We photograph the completed packing before sealing each crate, so you can see exactly how your idol was protected before it leaves our workshop.
Customs, Duties & Documentation
Our team prepares the export invoice, packing list and any certificates needed for customs clearance in the USA, UK, Canada or Australia, and we can advise on the import duty bracket your idol is likely to fall into based on declared value and destination country. We build extra buffer time into every delivery quote specifically to account for customs processing, so a routine clearance delay doesn’t put your Puja date at risk. Import duty rules do change from time to time, so we always recommend checking your country’s current threshold for personal religious goods alongside our estimate, since final assessment is ultimately made by customs officers at the border.
Delivery Timelines
Production for a made-to-order idol usually takes about 2 months from order confirmation, and international freight adds further transit time on top of that, so we recommend ordering at least three to four months ahead of your planned celebration wherever possible. We share a realistic delivery window before your order goes into production, and we send a tracking number once the crate ships, so you always know where your idol is in transit. Ordering close to the festival season understandably feels urgent, but idols ordered with adequate lead time consistently arrive with fewer last-minute complications than rush orders placed only a few weeks out.
Ordering Process for International Customers
Start by telling us your destination country, preferred size and any posture or finish preferences – we’ll confirm a quote covering production, packing and freight to your address, along with an estimated delivery window. From there we share progress photographs during production and a final approval photo before the crate is sealed for shipping. Ready to start? Contact our team with your destination and preferred size, or browse our Fiberglass Durga Idol for Foreigners page for size options built with export in mind. We’re also happy to answer specific questions about a particular country’s import rules or delivery network before you commit to an order, since every destination has its own quirks worth knowing about in advance.
