A sabeki fiberglass Durga idol follows the old, traditional Bengali style that many families and puja committees grew up with. We make sabeki Durga idols to order in our Kolkata workshops, so you get the traditional look in an idol you can keep and worship every year.
What Makes a Sabeki Durga Idol Different?
Sabeki means “traditional”. A sabeki idol keeps the classic Bengali look: the familiar face of Maa Durga with large, long eyes, the full family on a single chala, and traditional decoration such as white shola work. The colours and ornaments stay close to the style used in Bengali pujas for generations.
Who Chooses a Sabeki Idol?
- Puja committees and family pujas that want to keep an old tradition.
- Temples that want a classic look for regular worship.
- Bengali associations abroad who want the Durga Puja they remember from home.
Customisation
Height, face, colours, saree and decoration can all be adjusted. If you have a photo of your puja’s old idol, send it to us and we will follow that style as closely as we can.
Sizes, Price and Lead Time
Every idol is made to order, so the height is up to you. Tell us the size you need, where the idol will be kept and how many pieces you want. We share the price once we know your full requirement, and the price is negotiable.
The usual lead time is about 2 months from order confirmation, plus shipping time for orders outside India. Our fiberglass Durga idol price guide explains what changes the cost.
Delivery in India and Abroad
We make every idol in our Kolkata workshops at Duttapukur and Birati. We deliver across India and export to the USA, Canada, all European countries, Australia, South East Asia and Africa. Read our shipping and export guide to see how idols are packed and sent abroad.
Sabeki Durga Idol: Common Questions
Is a sabeki idol also an ek chala idol?
Usually, yes. Most sabeki idols have the whole family on one chala, but we can discuss other arrangements.
Can you follow the look of our old clay idol?
Send us clear photos from the front and sides, and we will tell you how closely we can follow it.
How long does it take to make?
About 2 months from order confirmation. For delivery outside India, add the shipping time.
Can a fiberglass Durga idol be immersed?
No. Fiberglass does not dissolve in water, so the idol is kept and worshipped again next year. Many pujas do a symbolic immersion with a small clay idol or a ghot instead.
